Just another work in progress preview of where I left off. Gonna continue later when I get home.
I left off playing around with some rough shading, (looks awful at this stage doesn’t it) and still no real details yet until I finish laying out the basics.
Work in progress of Adriana’s new pinup.
Just finished the flat colors and I may change some of them slightly. Gonna start working on the details later tonight.
Cleaned up and fully colored Gilda.
I changed the earrings and played around just a bit with texture.
Just a quick warm up sketch of Gilda before I work on my other illustrations today. So tempted to keep working on this but I’ll get to coloring it later.
"Now Ahuizotl, you know I can’t give you the ring until I’ve properly proposed!"
Daring Do being cocky. I wanted to draw some more stuff based off of the “Daring Don’t” MLP episode.
http://sta.sh/024ssirn5e9 This was probably one of my favorite Maud/Pinkie moments so I had the urge to attempt a redraw.
I just can’t get enough of Maud’s deadpanned demeanor.
This is going to be a 2014 update on my old picture of the humanized mane six. Gonna be adding the outfits next.
This isn’t the final version because obviously they’re not clothed xD And just basic coloring for now since I’m going to be doing an outfit overlay for the final anyway.
I wanted to focus on adding slight variations to their body types. Some of my general headcanons have stayed the same since the old drawing- Fluttershy is still tall, RD short, that kinda stuff. I decided to try out a bulky Applejack, and gave Pinkie Pie a bit of pudge. And I think I already mentioned in the past how short-haired Twilight has grown on me over time, so I stuck with the bob cut.
The outfits will be generally the same with RD and Fluttershy almost done, and I’ve already laid out the sketches for the rest of them but I still don’t expect to finish this anytime soon.
"Hmm…sedimentary. It’s a sedimentary rock."
Just a quick drawing of Maud Pie from last week’s MLP episode.
I absolutely loved her. I was really getting a Mai (from The Last Airbender) vibe from her throughout the episode but I don’t mean that in a bad way. In fact, I liked how that made her stand out compared to the usually cheerful cast.
Shelby for David (aka Redblooper) :3
I moved some of the background elements to balance out the composition.
Rough sketch work-in-progress for Keila.
I did change a few things such as extending the frame to avoid cropping a part of her head as well as to avoid some tangents that started creeping in on the left side.
I changed the position of the foot because the original one looked a bit wonky, but even so it still looks pretty weird so I’m gonna have to keep working on it. Either change it back or just clean this one up. Oh, and the hand too, of course XP
Just a few more before going to bed.
My buddy Travis (UncleScooter on DA) is working on another commission for me of kitsune/fox characters.
I did a couple of super quick thumbnails of poses I had in mind for him to try out for the design. I also wanted to make sure the silhouette was interesting or at the very least readable.
Practicing hands because why not?
If you’re wondering why it starts at 34, the first 33 I did are in my sketchbook, which I’ll scan eventually. I’m aiming for at least 100 (as a “100 Drawings Exercise”) but I may end up doing as many as I can before the end of the month.
I’m gonna be using a bunch of refs including my own hand, family members/friends (when I’m not at my computer) and online resources. The ones here were drawn from http://www.deviantart.com/art/Hands-Reference-261642003, as well as Paris Christou’s hands from his pinup tutorial http://www.toonboxstudio.com/cherry_course.html
I want to take a second crack at pinups with the beach girls I drew last year. I figure it’s not too soon for a semi-reboot for this series since it’s a new year after all. And looking back I’m not satisfied with the compositions I did with the first pieces.
Since I’m slightly ahead of schedule, I decided to do go ahead and at least lay some groundwork with rough thumbnails I can come back to at any time. Did a few for each before narrowing it down to the ones I liked, and then added onto them without going into much detail.
Oh, and I finally gave each of them names!
